Directors

Heather Klenk, director of the Summer Winds program, started playing the clarinet in Lakeland, Michigan at the age of 11.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Performance on clarinet at Western Michigan University under the tutelage of Bradley Wong.  Since she made her move to Los Angeles 11 years ago, Heather has had the opportunity to play with the Pacific Palisades Symphony, Marina del Rey Westchester Symphony, Golden State Pops Orchestra, and Westwind Woodwind Quintet.  Her love for performing is prominent but never takes away from her true passion of teaching.  Heather’s private studio consists of clarinet, saxophone, flute, and piano students, and she has had the opportunity to conduct sectionals and master classes around Los Angeles.  She has assisted the band director, Mark Hunt, at Lincoln Middle School for 8 years and has served as the long-term substitute band director at Lincoln Middle School during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years.
